THE LAND OF THE JAGUAR

The land of the jaguar is a metaphor for what was the nation of brave and indomitable indigenous Chimilas, and is where the painter reflects experiences and fantasies that emerge everyday in this passage we call "civilization".

Based on the beliefs and myths of indigenous Caribes of northern Colombia, for the artist animals were not irrational beings and that is how the jaguar is a shaman who can turn into a cat at will.

Moreover, in this colombian Caribbean canicular heat wave, anesthetized by the paroxysm folk, we see us away from the problem of global warming and pollution, but the high toxicity in which we have summarized our rivers and seas, tells us that every day fish will still die with them vanishing the rest of life.

Apparently without any suffering, this beautiful land is being modified physically and chemically, with the understanding that desertification is spreading rapidly, generating all kinds of ecological problems such as the disappearance of those majestic felines or death of large numbers of sick pelicans hepatitis.

Caribbean influenced by their environment and their own expression surrealistic painting, the artist is really a cartoonist that colors the ravaged landscape, seeking to return to the area which was its lush vegetation, and in that search, without being registered in some movement, strikes a way that is consistent with contemporary trends in painting.

Finally, because of environmental companies, with this proposal, the painter wishes to further enhance the ecological culture of the supposedly "uncivilized" indigenous people who inhabited "The territory of the jaguar".
